Adding a subsidiary account
A subsidiary account is added to a previously marked general account by clicking [Add Account on Lower Level] button.
A subsidiary account form will then be opened.

Mandatory fields in tab General:
Number – the first part of this field is entered by the system automatically. This is the inherited number of a general account. Further part of the field is completed by the user. This number must be unique. This field is mandatory
Name – name of a subsidiary account. This field is mandatory
Account Type – by clicking on the arrow , a list with available types of accounts is dropped down
Balance Control – allows for the specification whether the account must be subject to the balance control. It means that the system, during the program session, will be checking if the account balance is registered on the right side. In case of discrepancy, the user will receive an appropriate message. By clicking on the arrow , the balance control drop-down list will be displayed
Currency – if a general account is kept e.g. in EUR, then that currency will be suggested on all subsidiary accounts. That currency can be freely edited while creating an account. Subsidiary accounts are created the same way as general accounts
Example 1
The user creates a general account in the system currency. To such general account, it is possible to create subsidiary accounts in foreign currencies. The subsidiary accounts can be also created in the system currency.
Example 2
The user creates a general account in a foreign currency. To such general account, it is not possible to create a subsidiary account.
Note: An account on lower level cannot be added to a currency account.
The currency, in which general account is kept, cannot be changed if such
account already contains subsidiary account(s) or posted entries.
Directory Account – if checked, directory accounts will be presented. The list is dropped down by clicking on the arrow . It contains the following options: Customers/Vendors, Items, Employees
Clearing Account – in case of subsidiary account, the Clearing type is marked the same way as on a general account and it is not editable
Active – this parameter is checked for accounts which status must be changed into inactive. To deactivate an account, the checkbox Active needs to be unchecked.

In this tab, the following parameters can be set:
Transfer the opening balance - if checked, the ending balance of an account is automatically transferred at the end of the accounting period into a new accounting period as the opening balance
Create an account in the next period – if checked, the account will be transferred to the new accounting period along with all of its assigned accounts
Account number to be transferred
Account No. in the Next Period – in case of changing an account number in the next accounting period, the user may select a new account number in this field. The number can be entered manually or by clicking on the button [Account No. in the Next Period]with the left mouse button. Clicking on the button opens the chart of accounts of the next accounting period. If the next accounting period is not defined, this button is insensitive
Description – field for entering additional information about an account
After filling in all the mandatory fields, click [Save] to add a single-sided entry. Otherwise, click [Cancel]. A newly added account will be displayed on the Chart of accounts.
Tab Associated Accounts
This tab contains a list of all the accounts from the previous accounting period associated with a given account.
